1. About these terms
rent2go ("we", "us") is an online marketplace that connects people who want to rent items, vehicles, courts, and places to stay ("renters") with the people and businesses who own them ("hosts"). Some listings come from partner rental businesses whose inventory we show through their systems ("partner listings").
By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
The rental itself is an agreement between the renter and the host. We provide the platform, handle the payments described below, and help when something goes wrong, but we do not own, inspect, or operate the listed items unless a listing says so.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract.
- Give accurate details and keep them up to date. One person per account.
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account; tell us right away if you think someone else has used it.
- One account can both rent and host.
3. Identity verification
To protect hosts and their property, renters may need to verify their identity before booking, and hosts may need to verify themselves before taking bookings. Verification can ask for your legal name, date of birth, address, phone number, a government ID or driver's license, and a selfie.
We review submissions and may approve, reject, or ask for more information. Approval means the details looked consistent when we checked; it is not a guarantee about any person. Hosts may still ask for the documents their listing requires at pickup.
4. Listings and hosts
Hosts set their own rates, deposits, requirements, pickup details, availability, and how renters pay. When you list, you confirm that:
- you own the item or have the right to rent it out,
- the listing is accurate, including photos, condition, and what renters must bring,
- the item is safe, legal to rent, and, for vehicles, properly registered and insured as the law requires,
- you will honor bookings you accept and hand the item over as described.
We may edit how a listing is presented, hide it, or remove it if it breaks these terms or the law, or if renters report a real problem.
5. Requests and bookings
A renter sends a request for specific days, hours, or nights. It becomes a booking when the host accepts it. For partner listings, we place the booking with the partner after the online payment is confirmed; the partner can still decline if the dates are no longer free, in which case you are refunded in full.
The listing and checkout show the total, what is paid online, what is paid to the host in person, and any deposit before you send the request.
6. Payments, fees, and deposits
Prices are in Philippine pesos. Each host chooses one of two ways to be paid:
- Pay on site: you pay a 20% advance online when you send the request. This advance is the rent2go service fee. You pay the remaining 80% to the host at pickup.
- Pay in full online: you pay the whole rental online, and we pass the host's share to them after the booking.
Online payments are processed by payment providers such as Maya and PayMongo (cards, GCash, Maya, GrabPay, and QR Ph), or by bank or e-wallet transfer to the account shown on the payment page, which we confirm from the receipt you upload. We do not see or store full card numbers.
Deposits are paid to the host in person unless the listing says otherwise. Refundable deposits are returned by the host after the item comes back in the agreed condition. The listing states whether a deposit is refundable.
7. Cancellations and refunds
For the amount you pay online:
- Unpaid requests close automatically after 24 hours.
- If the host declines or cancels, or does not accept within 48 hours, you get a full refund.
- If you cancel before the host accepts, card payments are refunded in full; payments made with GCash, GrabPay, or another e-wallet keep the service fee.
- If you cancel an accepted booking more than 72 hours before it starts, you get a full refund.
- If you cancel an accepted booking within 72 hours of the start, the service fee is kept because the host held those dates. If you paid in full online, everything above the service fee is refunded.
The 72 hours count back from midnight on the start date, or from the booked start time for hourly bookings and stays, Philippine time. Refunds go back to the original payment method; how long they take depends on your bank or wallet. Amounts paid to a host in person are settled between you and the host.
8. Renters' responsibilities
- Bring the IDs, licenses, and deposit the listing asks for.
- Use the item carefully, legally, and only for its normal purpose. Do not lend or sub-rent it.
- Return it on time, in the condition you received it, apart from normal wear.
- You are responsible for loss, damage, fines, and late fees caused during your rental, as set out in the host's listing and agreement.
9. When something goes wrong
Message the other side from the booking page first. If you cannot sort it out, open a dispute on the booking about payment, the deposit, the item's condition, or the handoff. We review the booking's messages, payments, and uploads and may refund, release, or keep online payments we hold based on what we find. We cannot decide matters only a court can, such as claims for amounts paid outside the site.
10. Things you must not do
- Give false information, impersonate someone, or use another person's ID.
- Take payment for a booking outside the site to avoid fees or protections.
- List stolen, counterfeit, illegal, or unsafe items.
- Harass, threaten, or discriminate against anyone.
- Scrape, overload, or try to break into the site, or interfere with other users' accounts.
11. Your content
You keep ownership of the photos, descriptions, and messages you post. You give us permission to host, display, resize, and share them as needed to run and promote the marketplace, for as long as they are on the site. Do not post anything you do not have the right to share.
12. Suspending or closing accounts
We may limit, suspend, or close an account that breaks these terms, puts others at risk, or is involved in fraud. You can stop using the site at any time and ask us to close your account; bookings already in progress still need to be completed or cancelled under these terms.
13. Our responsibility
We work to keep rent2go available and accurate, but the site is provided as it is. Hosts and partners are responsible for their items and listings. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for loss or injury arising from an item, a rental, or another user's actions, and our total liability for a booking is limited to the fees we received for it. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Philippine consumer protection law.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. Disputes that cannot be settled between us will be brought before the proper courts of Cebu City, unless the law gives you the right to another venue.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. We will post the new version here with a new date and, for important changes, tell you by email or in the app before they take effect. Bookings made before a change keep the terms that applied when they were made.
